  1. Dear Academy,

Here are 20 movies that were all better than Best Picture Nominee, Seabiscuit.

    You suck,

    Mike

    20. A Mighty Wind. "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow" was a classic, and should have won Best Song if the Academy wasn't bent on having Return of the King go 11-for-11.

    19. Whale Rider. Keisha Castle-Hughes was amazing, and I've never seen a movie about New Zealand before.

    18. The Cooler. Alec Baldwin rocks.

    17. Thirteen. Its autobiographical nature makes it that much more disturbing. Holly Hunter is rediculous, and Evan Rachel Wood makes her breakthrough. Props to Nikki Reed for writing this true-to-life tale.

    16. American Splendor. Comic book/fiction/documentary. Here's to Harvey Pekar.

    15. Spellbound. Freaklin' h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s.

    14. X2: X-Men United. The opening sequence = sick.

    13. The Last Samurai. A glorified tribute of honor, self-reliance, and character. A great metaphor for what's going on right now.

    12. Love Actually. An all-time classic romantic comedy.

    11. The Triplets of Belleville. Unlike any other animated feature you'll ever see.

    10. Monster. Charlize Theron gets ugly and delivers an all-time Top 10 performance by a lead actress.

    9. Master and Commander. Classic tale of cat-and-house. Peter Weir is remarkable.

    8. Shattered Glass. Great take on journalism ... or lack thereof. I KNEW Haden Christensen could act!

    7. Mystic River. While a bit overdone, it's a character study of intense emotion, confusion, misinformation, and tragedy. You could just say, "It's Eastwood."

    6. Big Fish. Chase your dreams; you may not know the legacy you'll leave in the eyes of others.

    5. 21 Grams. See Mystic River, but double it. I think Sean Penn is depressed.

    4. Lost in Translation. Sophia's triumph. Bill's Triumph.

    3. Kill Bill, Vol. 2. Bill's monologue on Superman steals the show.

    2. Finding Nemo. Pixar's best.

    1. Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King. What else can you say, other than "epic."
